SEAoNY 2025 President's Breakfast Roundtable

As buildings become more and more complex, design and collaboration between different disciplines also become more complicated. Today’s projects require a higher level of collaboration between the members of the design team as well as with the construction team and clients. What are ways that we can all work together more productively and collaboratively? This year’s roundtable will explore ways that we can better work with our partners to achieve ours and the client’s goals. A knowledgeable moderator will lead each of four discussion topics, and attendees will have the opportunity to rotate between each discussion. All attendees will be encouraged to participate by sharing their thoughts, experiences and ideas relevant to these topics with each other. The four topics of discussion will be:
- How to improve communication between structural engineers and architects.
- How to collaborate with contractors earlier in the process to work more efficiently.
- How to leverage technology to better multidisciplinary collaboration (i.e. MEP).
- How to navigate difficult conversations (late invoices, alternative system reviews, unreasonable deadlines, change of scope and additional services, etc.)
