Disasters can strike without warning, but preparation makes all the difference. Join us for "When Disaster Strikes: Emergency Readiness for Floods and Fires" to gain critical insights into emergency response and preparedness for floods and wildfires, two of the most devastating natural events our nation has faced in recent years. This webinar will cover recent flood and fire events, explore effective preparedness strategies, and offer actionable steps to enhance resilience.

Alexander Stephani is a structural engineer specializing in flood mitigation and resilient design. With expertise in assessing flood hazards and implementing mitigation strategies, Alex has led projects addressing coastal, riverine, and stormwater risks from concept to construction. His work includes developing flood emergency response plans and providing critical recommendations to safeguard infrastructure against diverse flood threats.  Alex is an active member of the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY), contributing to both the Structural Engineering Emergency Response Committee and the Resiliency Committee. He also serves on the New York City Department of Buildings Waterfront Code Committee, helping shape policies for flood resilience in the built environment.


Rachael Brady is the Deputy Director of Research for the University of California San Diego's ALERTCalifornia public safety program. The program focuses on increasing situational awareness for first responders around all disasters in California. Rachael began her career in wildfire with CAL FIRE as a dispatcher, then grew within the organization to become a Research Data Specialist. She has worked on multiple projects within the wildland fire space and is passionate about the subject after losing her childhood home to a fast-moving wildfire in 2020.

SEAoNY will accept refund requests made in writing no later than Friday, March 21 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Registration fees are not refundable after this date.
