SEAoNY Programs Committee Presents:
Using Technology to Rapidly Bring Steel from Concept to Bid to Fabrication -
the Structural Connected Model
DATE: Monday, November 18, 2024
TIME: 12:00 - 1:30 PM
Zoom Webinar
Technology has allowed structural engineering firms to rapidly develop connection details and allow for the creation of early connected models, which then become the basis of the shop drawings. This method streamlines the entire process from design to fabrication. The presenters will give an overview of the process of creating early connected models including tips and tricks and discuss techniques making this option viable for even smaller engineering firms. Specific case studies from NYC projects will be presented. They will also discuss how this process can lead to more sustainable buildings. The goal of the presenters is to provide different points of view from the views of the EOR, builder and technology/detailing.
The presenters include: Allan Paull, Senior Vice President of Civil/Structural Engineering at AECOM Tishman, J. Benjamin Alper (Ben), Principal from Severud Michael Gustafson, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development from Qnect.
