Note:

  • Sessions will be filled on a first come first served basis.
  • Successful registrations will receive a confirmation from DOB Buildings University

Course Description:

The Department of Buildings Emergency Management Unit will conduct a tabletop exercise as part of agency mandate to comply with core components of continuity of operations program. This course will cover:

  • Difference between minor and major emergency events.
  • Review of most critical components of agency Continuity of Operations Program.
  • New York City Building Code requirements pertaining to city flood zone locations.
  • Virtual Rapid and Detailed Damage Assessment.
  • Introduction to the concept of Substantial Damage (SD) Survey.
  • At the end of the session participants will review and discuss completed daily damage assessments results.

    Credit: 7.5 LU/HSW

Learning Objectives:

The Department of Buildings Emergency Management Unit will discuss with participants major steps of the City Seasonal Hurricane Preparedness. Agency will perform an annual training exercise to follow Executive Order #107. At this hands-on training, participants will:

  • Discuss the importance of Seasonal Hurricane Preparedness.
  • Review of agency emergency response role and responsibilities.
  • Perform in-class virtual Rapid and Detailed Damage Assessment utilizing 2024 version of Esri Survey 123 mobile application.
  • Participants will be introduced to the FEMA Substantial Damage (SD) Survey.
