Join us for a site tour of 270 Park Avenue, JP Morgan’s new headquarters. The new JPMorgan Chase global headquarters at 270 Park Avenue will include 2.5 million square feet of space with state-of-the-art technology, health and wellness amenities, and public spaces, among other features. The structure is comprised of 93,500 tons of fabricated steel for this 1,388-foot, 60-story skyscraper.
All participants must sign and return two waivers to admin@seaony.org by Monday, October 9, 2023. Waivers will be emailed to participants in their registration confirmation email. Participants will need to bring their own PPE (hardhats, OSHA compliant boots, vest, and safety glasses).
Learning Objectives:
- Gain exposure to the complicated aspects of high-rise structures in Manhattan.
- Gain exposure to the additional complications of building a high-rise structure over a heavily congested site.
- Gain detailed insight of the structural system(s), specifically the unique aspects of this behemoth structure.

Fortunato Orlando
Principal, Severud Associates
Mr. Orlando is a native of Italy and holds a Master Degree in Structural Engineering from La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy.
He moved to the US and joined Severud Associates in March 1996 after working as an engineer in Italy for several years and is now a Principal of the company. Mr. Orlando holds P.E. licenses in multiple states including New York, New Jersey, Delaware, South Carolina, as well as SECB (sunset 2022) and Italy.
He masters over project and team management, including large-scale projects, conceptual design and project planning, high-level collaboration with owners, developers, and architects, coordination with geotechnical, wind tunnel, vertical transportation and security consultants, primary liaison to clients, and construction contract administration.
In his earlier years of career working as an Engineer, then as an Associate, for Severud Associates, he was involved in the analysis and design of a wide range of structural systems including not limited to: high-rise, long span, sport arenas, educational buildings, commercial, residential and components for new construction, and renovation of existing buildings of varied types and functions. Over the years, he has been involved in the design of structures for physical security and blast loading, design of curtain wall and glass systems and other special structures, computer modeling and advanced software analysis. Notably, he worked on projects for the PAoNY&NJ, LIRR, MTA, MNRR for over a decade.
Mr. Orlando devoted his time to development of feasibility studies, condition surveys, forensic analysis and investigations of existing conditions, and co-authored several professional magazine articles.
Mr. Orlando is a leader in the field of structural engineering. He is a past director and secretary of SEAoNY, on-call volunteer with SEAoNY SEERP and current chair of a committee for the CIB Green Concrete Guidelines and a member of the committee for the Low Carbon Concrete Recommendation.
Other professional affiliations include ASCE, AISC, SEI, ACI, CIB. He is well-versed with EuroCodes, worked and completed 16 buildings between France, Germany, England and Italy.

SEAoNY will accept refund requests made in writing no later than Monday, October 9, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Registration fees are not refundable after this date.
