SEAoNY Upstate Chapter and
Sustainable Design Committee Present:
Portland Limestone Cement and Greener Concrete
DATE: June 14, 2023
TIME: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Zoom Webinar
This course will be covering basic sustainable design principles for the built environment, lower embodied carbon concrete policy landscape, portland limestone cement history, properties, manufacturing differences comparing with OPC (ASTM C150 Ordinary Portland Cement). In the end, we will covering the process to design low carbon concrete and the importance of performance based specification.
Learning Objectives
- Learning the impact of PLC on fresh and hardened concrete properties relative to OPC (C150 Ordinary Portland Limestone Cement) concrete.
- Describe the potential savings in CO2 footprint for concrete by using PLC.
- Discuss how to update any concrete specification to allow for use of PLC.
- Explain the impact of using PLC on mix designs, including use of SCMs.
