AIA Accredited Course Description:
To comply with the high standards set out by Federal Continuity Directives 1 & 2 and NYC Executive Order No. 107, the Department of Buildings Continuity of Operations / Emergency Management Team in collaboration with FDNY Center for Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness (CTDP) will perform the annual training exercise for: Preparing for, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating the potential effects of emergencies / disasters on Buildings’ structure and equipment. Attendees will be able to identify the Construction Codes standards for design, construction, and maintenance of buildings/equipment as they relate to risk mitigation for protecting public safety, health and welfare, and advance sustainability and resiliency goals.
- Learning Objective 1:
Participants will discuss and become familiar with the Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) – Damage Assessment and Power Restoration (DAPR) program requirements for first/emergency responders responding to disaster emergencies.
- Learning Objective 2:
Participants will review the Citywide Health and Safety Plan (CHASP) which assists New York City agencies plan, organize operations and resources to address multi-agency Health and Safety (H&S) needs during the emergency response and recovery phases of an incident.
- Learning Objective 3:
Participants will learn about Applied Technology Council (ATC), FEMA and Construction Codes requirements for Building Damage Assessment process in order to determine if structures that sustained incident-related damage are safe to re-occupy.
- Learning Objective 4:
Participants will acknowledge FEMA USAR – NY-TF 1 and FDNY SOC-TF mission and markings system to ensure the safety and welfare of building occupants, and identify further actions of repair and power restoration.
Participation to DOB COOP- DAPR FSE is a requirement for the On-Call Emergency Contracts (OCEC) - Building Assessment Teams
