2019 President's Breakfast Roundtable: The Business of Engineering
As easy as it can be to get caught up in the technical aspects of our profession, it’s important to remember that structural engineering is a for-profit industry like any other, with all of the associated challenges, risks, and rewards. This year’s roundtable will explore some of the managerial challenges that we as engineers face in running our projects and ultimately our businesses. A knowledgeable moderator will lead each of the four discussion topics, and attendees will have the opportunity to rotate between each discussion. All attendees will be encouraged to participate by sharing their thoughts, experiences, and ideas relevant to these topics with each other. The four topics of discussion will be:
- Managing Finances, moderated by Steve Szycher, Thornton Tomasetti
- Managing Time, moderated by Jonathan Hernandez, Gilsanz Murray Steficek
- Managing Risk, moderated by Greg Krumm Sr., Prosurance Redeker
- Managing People, moderated by Sara Steele, Silman
A light breakfast will be served!
2 PDH Credits will be offered (pending)
Registration opens at 7:45am. Seminar begins promptly at 8:00am
