ATC-20 STANDARD AND ATC-45 TRAINING
for New York Engineers and Responders to Natural Disasters

Join the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) – the New York – Northeast Chapter for an all day training on the principles of damaged buildings safety in accordance with the Applied Technology Council’s (ATC) principles. The training will incorporate material regarding safety evaluation of buildings resulting following (i) earthquakes – addressed by the ATC-20 Standard and (ii) hurricanes and floods addressed by the ATC-45 Standard. Relevant material, prepared by ATC, will be provided to the attendees as means of quickly establishing whether a structurally damaged building is suitable for continuous occupancy following the occurence of a natural disaster.
Instructor
Illya Azaroff AIA, Principal +LAB Architect PLLC. & Associate Professor at NYCCT
Illya Azaroff is an architect and educator with over 25 years experience. Illya is a nationally recognized expert in resilient building measures and recovery systems often working with ASPR on the Federal Disaster Recovery Framework and ORR - New York City Office of Recovery & Resilience as a subject matter expert. Illya holds an MArch & BArch from Pratt Institute and a BS in Geography & BSAS in Architecture from UNL. Certified trainer for Cal EMA Safety Assessment Program, an instructor with NDTPC-National Disaster Training Preparedness Center. He serves on several boards including AIA New York State, the SHADE institute, and is working with FLASH - Federal Alliance of Safe Homes, building #hurricanestrong homes. In 2014 he received the AIANYS Presidents Citation and the AIA National Young Architects Award. He is honored to serve on the AIA National Strategic Council through 2018, and appointed Chair to the Board Knowledge Committee 2017. Prior to coming to New York City he worked in Germany, Italy and Holland.
