SEAoNY Upstate Syracuse Seminar - CLT Solutions: Addressing Common Design Challenges

Now available to North American building designers, cross laminated timber (CLT) offers the structural simplicity needed for cost-effective projects, as well as benefits such as fast installation, reduced waste, improved thermal performance and design versatility. This presentation will cover some of the more challenging aspects of CLT building design, including fire and life safety, lateral and seismic design, acoustic performance and building envelope. Resources available to design and construction professionals, such as the new US CLT Handbook, will also be discussed.

Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) is working to better represent all of the Structural Engineers throughout the state of New York. This year we plan to start by beginning a new chapter in Syracuse, New York. Our goal is to introduce our organization to upstate professionals in order to advance the profession and foster forums that allow professionals to meet and discuss their experiences.
