Annual Museum or Site Tour / Venue Outing

Each year, SEAoNY YMG hosts an in-person event that highlights one of NYC’s engineering marvels. These outings provide an educational look at the evolution of our industry while inspiring young engineers to engage with the built world we help create. They also offer a social component, bringing people together to network and enjoy these engineering accomplishments. Past venues have included observation decks such as SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and The Edge at Hudson Yards, as well as tours through the Skyscraper Museum and across the Brooklyn Bridge.  

Technical & Educational Sessions

Each year, YMG hosts a technical lecture featuring a unique or challenging project, emphasizing the creativity and problem-solving behind successful structural engineering work. YMG also organizes PE Exam educational sessions that review the application process and offer test-day guidance, reinforcing the importance of professional licensure within our community.  

Cross-Committee Collaboration

YMG partners with other SEAoNY subcommittees to further shared goals and strengthen inter-organization engagement. While previous collaborations have focused on informal committee happy hours, YMG is working to expand these efforts into more event-driven forums that encourage deeper cross-committee connection.  

Social Gatherings

YMG hosts an annual Pub Trivia Night that brings members together for friendly competition and the chance to crown an engineering-trivia champion. We also host our Annual Holiday Party to celebrate a year of collaboration, networking, and progress. As part of the Holiday Party, attendees are encouraged to bring a small, unwrapped toy, which YMG donates to a local holiday toy drive supporting families in need.
