Volunteer as a Second Responder

Preferred skills for Second Responders affiliated with SEAoNY SEER:

  • CALOES SAP training on ATC-20 and ATC-45 standards so that you are trained to perform standardized post-disaster safety assessment using procedures described in the Applied Technology Council (ATC) publications.
  • NYC Department of Buildings’ Continuity of Operations Program Exercise (COOP), usually offered once a year, so that you are familiar with chain of command and assessment processes utilized by New York City agencies
  • OSHA 10-hour Outreach Course so that you can recognize, abate, and prevent site hazards
Please register here,, if you are interested in serving as a 2nd responder to assist local, state or federal entity who needs skilled, trained and certified building safety professionals in the aftermath of a disaster.

Please note that the Disaster Response Alliance volunteer system is managed by NCSEA that SEAoNY adopted since January 2020. If you have registered with SEAoNY prior to that (by emailing a form), you need to register yourself again. Thank you for your understanding.
