NCEES has updated their website to include a notice of changes being made to the PE Civil: Structural Exam. The change to the exam will take place starting April of 2024. The main change to the new exam is that the traditional “breadth” portion of the exam consisting of general Civil questions (i.e. Hydraulics and Hydrology, Soil Mechanics, etc.) will be removed. In replacement of the “breadth” portion will be a longer “depth” portion with questions emphasizing on analysis and design principles of structural components. Referenced codes and standards will also be updated (i.e. ASCE 7-16, AISC 360 15th edition, etc.). The optional scheduled break will still remain. SEAoNY’s YMG Committee will be presenting a webinar discussing these exam specifications, how to apply to take the exam and test taking strategies this upcoming February and March. Be sure to attend if these changes will impact you.
