The Evolving Metropolis will address the social and economic needs of the world with sessions on Durable Bridges and Affordable Housing as well as numerous other important and current issues presented in our world. New York City is a key place on our continent to address the needs of society today with regards to the following:
- Designing bridges to last into the next century
- The future of housing the worlds inhabitants at all income levels
- The latest technologies and construction techniques for creating a
society that is sustainable and affordable for all
- Innovations in structural engineering to accommodate growth
The Call for Themes closed at the beginning of June and found great interest. The Scientific Committee has now developed the final Congress themes and released the Call for Abstracts for the following main Themes (the complete list of session topics is available online):
1. The 200-year Bridge
2. Tomorrow's Affordable Housing
3. Extreme Events, Climate Change and Resilient Metropolis
4. Urban Infrastructure: Design and Preservation
5. Mitigating Fire Hazards Through Engineering
6. Globalisation and Structural Engineering
7. Technology, Automation, and Innovation
8. Urbanisation and Population Growth
The Scientific Programme will include Plenary and Concurrent Sessions over three days. Panel discussions and Poster Sessions will also be incorporated into the programme. Contributors can also suggest topic presentation methods such as paper, poster, panel discussion, etc.
