2023 DOB FULL SCALE EXERCISE

Continuity of Governmental Services, Damage Assessment as a Critical DOB Essential Function

Fort Totten Park, Queens

Participants will be exposed to damaged structures evaluation methods (ie ATC 20 & 45), the latest technologies being used, and rehearse real-life scenarios at Fort Tottem Park- Queens. Registration Deadline 9/15, BE READY!

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  

The Department of Buildings Emergency Management Unit in collaboration with FDNY Center for Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness (CTDP) will discuss and perform an annual training exercise to be in compliance with Executive Order #107. At this hands-on training, participants will:

  • Review fundamentals of mandated Continuity of Operation Program
  • Understand importance of continuity of governmental services in general
  • Performing Rapid and Detailed Damage Assessment utilizing nationally recognized ATC-45 form for possible voluntarily deployment within FEMA Region 2
  • Utilize latest technology for field survey and successful communication.


IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Participants arriving to Fort Totten Park will be greeted at the security gate by DOB personnel. Attendees are expected to arrive no later than 7:30 AM.
  • Do not cross main entrance security boot unless you were pre-authorized by
  • exercise planning team. If you are not sure about direction, if you accidently entered the park and unable to navigate to the right place, call DOB Chief Emergency Management Officer Dmitri Dits at 917-709-6186.
  • Private vehicles should be parked at the public parking lot located right outside Fort Totten Park main entrance/FDNY security boot. DOT mini vans will then transport exercise participants to the training facility.
  • Make sure to bring your hardhat and any type of governmental I.D. Adequate shoes are required. Your smart phone should be fully charged. You will need to have cash money in order to buy your food on premises.


Note:

  • Sessions will be filled on a first come first served basis.
  • Successful registrations will receive a confirmation from DOB Buildings University.
