The mission of the 9/11 Structural Engineers Memorial Committee is to create a short documentary highlighting structural engineer’s expert knowledge, collective memory, and resources which ensured the success of the heroic recovery effort. The intended audience for this film includes students, young professionals, and the general public.
In honor of the 20th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, the 9/11 Structural Engineers Memorial Committee was formed. Following the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, structural engineers and other design professionals were called upon to help maintain the stability of remaining structures and allow for the safe movement of debris. After the initial effort, SEAoNY continued to provide our services for the clean-up and investigation of the disaster, as well as to many other affected buildings south of Canal Street. SEAoNY is seeking to build upon its direct connection to this important history and to educate the public on the importance of structural engineering.
